PROS Completes SOC2, HIPAA, U.S.-European Union Safe Harbor Certifications for Internal Security Controls, Compliance
HOUSTON, July 31, 2015 – PROS® (NYSE: PRO), a big data software company, today announced it has again successfully completed the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 SOC2 Type II independent annual audit. PROS has also certified compliance with both the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and U.S.-European Union (EU) Safe Harbor program. These recognized standards underscore the company’s commitment to security and privacy, and to helping customers outperform with smart applications delivered in the cloud.
“We are pleased to once again certify our cloud data security and privacy capabilities against multiple international standards,” said PROS Vice President of Cloud Operations and Customer Support Henry Tran. “Our long-standing commitment to data security is a key part of our cloud strategy, further ensuring that customers can safely access our market-leading smart applications in the cloud. We will continue to invest in the highest standards of data security and privacy.”
SOC2 provides a broad set of trust service principles that specifically address security for service organizations and requires an independent review of evidence that shows consistent compliance. PROS SOC2 Type II audit provides independent validation that PROS control objectives met or exceeded the stringent standards or expectations specified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Criteria for both security and confidentiality.
PROS customers who are required to comply with HIPAA-regulated information can be confident in the company’s security and privacy of protected health information. The HIPAA rules require companies that have access to this data maintain and secure protected health information on behalf of a HIPAA-covered entity.
PROS has also completed the certification process for compliance with the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Framework. The EU’s Directive on Data Protection prohibits transfer of personal data to non-EU countries that do not meet the EU “adequacy” standard for privacy protection. The U.S.-EU Safe Harbor program was developed to bridge the differences between U.S. and European privacy laws.
